Rohanna Ssanyu Delossantos is a Ugandan-American writer, artist, and interdisciplinary-minded educator. She works between history, literature, and visual arts (mixed-media, acrylic).
In 2026, Rohanna published her poetry chapbook, The Marabou Who Crossed the Sea (Small Harbor Publishing), for which she also painted the cover art. She won the Nutmeg Poetry Award in 2023 for her poem "An Aftermath of Empire," organized by the Connecticut Poetry Society. She often writes about identity, color, motherhood, and memory.
Rohanna has worked as a New Haven Public School teacher for over a decade. She currently teaches at New Haven Adult Education, where her courses include Project Museum, a class and community museum run by High School Credit students. In addition to classroom teaching, Rohanna works in museum education.
Rohanna holds an MFA in Writing from Albertus Magnus College, an MS in History from Southern Connecticut State University, and a BA in International Affairs (Africa) from George Washington University.
She lives in Connecticut with her husband and children. Her favorite place is her garden or on the front porch, reading with her dog.
